The first coupé made by AMG.
Design – The car’s design reflects the AMG philosophy, featuring clean lines with bold proportions and sporty yet elegant shapes, especially at the rear. The front is characterized by the distinctive AMG grille with vertical slats and narrow MULTIBEAM LED headlights. The rear, on the other hand, consists of slim sporty-looking taillights and an expandable multi-level or fixed spoiler, giving the car a more athletic appearance.
Powertrain – There are two mild hybrid powertrains for the GT: 43 and 53. The first one, “43,” is the entry-level option for the vehicle, offering a power output of 367 horsepower and a torque of 500 Nm. The “53,” on the other hand, is more sporty, providing a power output of 435 horsepower and a torque of 520 Nm. Both are paired with a 9-speed AMG sport automatic transmission. There is also a plug-in hybrid version called “63 S E Performance”.
GT 63 S E Performance – The most sporty version of the coupe, it enhances its sporty soul to the extreme. It delivers incredibly high performance thanks to the twin-turbo V8 engine, which alone generates 639 horsepower and 900 Nm of torque, and an electric motor that not only allows the vehicle to travel emission-free but also instantly provides a peak power of 204 horsepower and over 320 Nm of torque. Therefore, the total power of the vehicle amounts to 843 horsepower.
Chassis – Active aerodynamics play a significant role in the GT 63 S E Performance, both at the front and rear. At the front, there is the radiator grille with the AIRPANEL system, which can open and close to enhance frontal aerodynamics. Integrated into the rear, there is an adjustable spoiler that can be positioned at different levels. The optional RIDE CONTROL+ AMG suspension system is available, which utilizes pneumatic suspension to adapt the vehicle’s setup according to the selected driving mode. The 9-speed automatic transmission, developed by AMG, offers dynamic and sporty shifts or smooth and progressive shifts, depending on the chosen driving mode.
Interior -Inside, the performance steering wheel ensures full control over the vehicle and its various settings. There are two 12.3-inch screens, which display relevant information in all conditions and allow interaction with the MBUX infotainment and multimedia system.
Trims – There are 3 trims: the entry level “43”, the sporty “53” and the sportiest “63 S E Performance”. In some countries is available another version, called “63”. It has the V8 twin turbo and, instead of being plug-in hybrid, it’s mild hybrid.
Curiosity – As it was said, the engine is made by AMG. Because of this, on each engine there’ll be a plate reporting the name of the engine builder who made that engine. This is a particulary filosofy by AMG, called “One man, one engine”.
